Sōun was a painter who also drew the pictures for a book entitled Santo Icchō (Three Cities in One Day). This book was edited by Tomujirō Naritaya and published in 1854. It featured fifty-eight varieties of mutant Japanese morning glories collected from three major Japanese cities (i.e., Kyōto, Ōsaka, and Tōkyō). Click on a picture to enlarge it.
